Every illustration I create is unique, completely mine, the result of effort, sometimes anger, and often, very often, does not meet even half of my expectations. But I can only love it, in its imperfections and its critical points. I can not help but feel it part of me, a bit as a mother with a son.
And just like a mother in front of children, I know I should not do differences. But I find myself inevitably make, and love some more than others creations.
Well, if they ever ask me what my favorite among the 13 illustrations in this calendar is, I would choose no doubt November. Not only for the visual effect (that in any case I really like) but for the fun and joy felt in realizing it, for empathy with the subject and the stimuli that gave me.
I discovered the bullfinch, an adorable sparrow, with black head and who’s fond of berries. I have known the name of the plant that makes bluish berries: Aronia. And I learned that the sorb can do red but also yellow berries. And since before I began to draw it I had a clear vision of how I wanted my November, full of these colored particulars and with shades of yellow, red and blue, I slowly entered each detail as if it was born first in my mind, and Google helped me find it.
And to prove how much November has been creative, I decided to post the other November: this is the only month where I did two illustrations. It’s even fuller of details and with larger sparrows, but I rejected it ’cause it had a composition too different from previous ones.
Oak Leaf for the logo, and happy journey through November, just a step from the end of this year that went fast, but that gave me many many satisfactions.
